Colorado Springs TICA  Show Report
November 18th - 19th, 2006
By: Brenda Miller
The Colorado Cats Club held their very first show in Colorado Springs on
November 18th and 19th. This show used the format that created four shows in 2
days. It was very exhausting, but a lot of fun. I was the only one showing
Pixie-Bobs. I brought Climax Moly Mucker and Jarnac's Acme.

Moly took first for breed all weekend and finaled in four rings. That wasn't too
bad for a 10 month old female. I have included a photo of Nancy Parkinsons
presenting Moly with her final.

We are hoping to get to a west coast show after the first of the year. Here's hoping
that everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year filled with
outstanding Pixie-Bob kittens!
and Aaron who are showing their pet (unregistered PB) in Household Pet.

The number of Pixie-Bobs shown was 6.

The displays and promotional material presented:
Each breeder decorated their cage tops with photos of their cats, descriptions of the breed as well as recent
ads. The tops of the 9 large cages were covered with photos of Pixie-Bobs.

Activities of the day:
The show itself was great. Right after the show on Saturday, an Educational Seminar was organized and
presented by Michele Punzel. Michele had some support from one of our Breed Committee Members,
Maryan Horne.

The seminar was attended by many of the judges and there was a lot of interaction between judges and
attendees. In fact, so much was going on that the Seminar went overtime by an hour and a half. We had to
quit as they were locking up the building. Michele presented adults, both males and females, and several
kittens. She demonstrated various qualities of the breed such as the polydactal foot vs. the straight foot,
shaggy coat vs. short coat, cool colors vs. warm colors, and various tail lengths, including a long tail.

During the seminar, Michele pointed out the correct vs. incorrect aspects of the ear set, eye set, coat, muted
spots, and other aspects important to the breed.

A very informative handout was prepared along with goody bags containing cat toys and  t-shirt with the
date of the seminar on it. Michele Punzel and Julie Lizak donated the handouts and goody bags. We
received a lot of compliments on the quality of the seminar.

The whole show was a lot of fun with all the breeders benched together and a lot of laughing and talking
going on. Some had just met in person for the first time. The funny theme of this show was "How many
Pixie-Bob Breeders does it take to get lost in Tulsa Oklahoma?" The answer, "Apparently, all of them,
except the only male member of the group, Mr. Ken Michaels!" Ken came to our rescue and escorted the
caravan of  SUV's, pickups, and vans to find a place to eat and, at last, enjoy our margaritas!

Our Junior Achiever was Jenna Aaron who is 8 years old and attended her first show. She showed her
unregistered Pixie-Bob pet, Lily. Jenna and Lily won 8 ribbons at their very FIRST show! Congratulations
to Jenna, our new Junior Achiever, and Lily!
