Last year, Ukan Pixie-Bobs made a multitude of firsts in CFA history, first pixie-bob to ever win a Best HHP in a class with 25 HHPs! They were also the first pixie-bobs ever to be invited to a CFA show to be judged in the Parade of Breeds - normally reserved for only CFA breeds.

This year, due to the great feedback and gate draw from the pixie-bobs displayed at the 2005 CFA Parade of Breeds, we were invited back for the second year in a row, and with wonderful results! I ran out of my business cards.

People were drawn to these wild looking cats that purred like bandits when they were petted, and behaved like perfect pixie-bobs when on the judging table. The crowd and the CFA judge of 22 years, Judy Thomas, were all thrilled with my female polydactyl - even allowing me to come up and describe the foot and tail genetics of the pixie-bob and breeding for these traits.

Docking was mentioned, by the judge, and not in a bad light. She noted that she knows Manx and American bobtails also do this. The best part was when she announced to the standing room only crowd that the only reason that pixie-bobs were not accepted as a breed in CFA yet was that the American bobtails stole the pixie-bob's TICA standard, and that the American bobtail breed doesn't even come close to fitting that standard! WooooHooo, Go Judy!!!!!!

I strongly encourage you ALL to take your best kittens, and alters and go show in CFA HHP! Call clubs, ask if there will be a Parade of Breeds, and if you can join them. Interestingly, Mrs. Thomas said the only American bobtail she has seen in 22 years of judging was, you guessed it, a LH brown spotted tabby! I also strongly encourage you all to write to Ms. Thomas and thank her for graciously judging the pixie-bob breed for a second year, and for knowing so much about the truth behind them and the American bobtail. We look forward to joining CFA ASAP.

  Regards,
  Jill Peters
