Salvarda Pixie-Bobs is owned and run by Christopher Wren of Lincolnshire, located in the UK. Christopher is a Health and Social
Care Worker. He has an avid interest in health related issues and has a degree in Health and Social Care. Christopher was born in
London and spent most of his child hood in Cornwall and Cambridgeshire.
When Christopher was a child he would stroke any cat that he encountered, but breeding cats never came into his mind. “I have
always found this quotation by Anon close to my heart. French novelist Colette was a firm cat lover. When she was in the U.S. she
saw a cat sitting in the street. She went over to talk to it and the two of them mewed at each other for a friendly minute. Colette
turned to her companion and exclaimed, “Emfin! Quelquâ un qui parle francais.” (At last! Someone who speaks French!) I think they
all talk to us in a special way.”
In 2004, while researching different cat breeds on the internet, Christopher discovered Pixie-Bobs. He quickly fell in love with their
unique traits. “They are adorable not just for the way they look but for the way they are. They are affectionate, loyal and have
extraordinary dog-like traits. I also love that they chirp and have a great outgoing personality.”
It wasn’t too long after his discovery that he brought “Bob” home. Bob worked his Pixie charm and it wasn’t long before
Christopher brought two more Pixies into his life. He had never bred animals before, but after falling in love with the breed
Salvarda Pixie-Bobs was created.
“I did a lot of research through contacting different breeders in the USA. I learned more about different lineages and researched
further into different bloodlines. I also checked into the Pet Passport Scheme in order to import them into the UK.
I took advice from different breeders and wanted a Pixie-Bob from an Old Northwest lineage and I purchased Reisha. Her lineage
includes such superb cats as Bodhi, who is known for producing outstanding Pixie-Bobs, and Flick, who weighed 20lbs. Reisha's
pedigree also boasts such impressive cats as QGC Stone Island Saks Fifth Avemew, DGC Spunkykitten Cedar of Natureworks, and
IW SGCA Stone Islands Brian Boru.
Marley's lineage on his dams’ side includes exceptional Pixie-Bobs such as Peyote, Cactus Rose, and Waco Bob, among others,
who are world renowned and much respected. This had been complemented by his sire Rocky Falls' "BODHI" of NW Heritage, whom
is a lovely example of a great Pixie-Bob and has produced some big cats due to the outstanding Legend cats in his pedigree.
Marely’s lineage also includes QGC Stone Islands Saks Fifth Avemew as well as many others.
This was the start of my breeding program and a new way of life.
My sister Sharon came over and saw my Pixie-Bobs and also fell in love with them and once she imported her two girls I was lucky
enough to have a kitten as a wedding present.”
Christopher is definitely off to a great start, honing his knowledge of the breed and building a solid foundation for his breeding
program.
“I am very interested in preserving and developing certain traits and characteristics and find it a very rewarding achievement to
help develop the breed to the best of my ability. It is also very exciting to see what kittens you have assisted into the world. I love
learning more about Pixie-Bobs and am working to increase my knowledge of the breed. I will keep some of my female kittens and
look forward to bringing in another male with the poly gene. I will research further into the lines that I may develop, with a key
focus being on health matters.
I was lucky enough to learn more from Lauren of NW Heritage and Jessica of Rocky Top as well as others. Due to their catteries
closing I do not correspond at present and do not have a mentor as such. I find that the Pixie- Bob Yahoo group can be helpful at
times. Sharon and I also share information to assist in our development as breeders.”
Christopher has started off with some great cats, Aristotles Pride Reisha of Salvarda, and Pinewoods Marely of Salvarda. “Reisha’s
favorite place is on my lap and has a great purring motor and Marely greets you with a chirp and rolls onto his back for you to rub
his tummy. They have great personalities, sweet and endearing.”
The three Pixies share the house with two English Cocker Spaniels, a Bengal and a moggy. “They all play together. My Pixie-Bob
“Bob” runs around with the dogs and they chase each other. They also enjoy rolling around the floor together. The Bengal “Willow”
can be a bit grumpy at times. Reisha is pregnant at present and we should have a litter due in a few weeks.”
When asked what he has come to love about the breed the most, he replies “I love how affectionate they are and just their overall
distinctive looks.”
Congratulations Christopher on your new litter, we hope to see you in the show halls soon!
